Cedar Creek Fire Update, Sept 1
Updated On: 09/01/2022
Current Situation: Weather caused the fire to be active yesterday. As the inversion lifted in the afternoon, it opened the atmosphere allowing increased airflow, combined with hot and dry conditions, fire behavior increased. Activity is expected to be less today because the atmosphere is anticipated to be more stable. Smoke will continue to be visible in nearby communities. Visit https://www.airnow.gov/ for air quality information and real-time smoke map.

Smoke Oakridge may have some smoke in the morning again with downslope air flowing down the Salmon Creek drainage. In the afternoon light winds flowing up-valley will likely result in smoke production enough to affect areas east the fire. Waldo Lake may have fairly heavy smoke in the afternoon into the night if smoke near the surface of the fire does not get much lift like what happened on Monday. Crater Lake may receive some smoke from the Rum Creek fire to the southwest. Other locations further from the fire should not be affected by smoke from this fire.
