On Monday August 8th, 2022 at 9:30 pm, Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to assist with a fast moving wildfire near Groveton, TX in Trinity County. Crews arrived on scene and found moderate to high wildfire activity in young pine plantations. No homes were immediately threatened, and no evacuations were ordered or reported.
Crews were able to stop forward progression of the fire late into the night, and managed to increase the containment to 80% before leaving the scene with only smoldering fire activity remaining. At 8:00am the next morning, dozer crews returned on scene to continue progression on the containment lines, and strengthen existing dozer lines.
