Fuels Involved

Fire is currently burning in high elevation mixed conifer with an understory containing heavy continuous dead/down/blowdown fuels. Currently, only the heavy dead/down fuels are sustaining continued combustion. The litter/duff/live fuels of the timber fuels are not contributing to fire spread at this time. A large number of snags are present within the fire perimeter as well as adjacent to it.

Significant Events

Fire will continue to smolder in heavy dead and down fuel and duff layer until season ending moisture occurs.

Outlook
Planned Actions

Resources have moved into a more direct attack due to decrease in the current fire behavior, in order to mitigate any remaining threats. Crews are utilizing UAS with infrared capabilities in order to mitigate their exposure. Suppression repair work will continue with an excavator to repair unneeded indirect dozer lines the fire area.

Projected Incident Activity

12 - 72 hours: Partly cloudy; scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Beyond 72 hours: Minimal heat remaining in the fire with primary fire activity being smoldering in pockets of heavy dead and downed logs.

Current Weather
Weather Concerns

Showers and thunderstorms remain possible on Sunday, but there is low confidence they will impact the burn area.  If storms develop, they will move towards the east or southeast around 5-10 miles per hour.
