The Biggie Rx Project Area consists of 2620 acres of prescribed fire treatment to promote forest resilience to wildfire, insect and disease outbreaks, and climate change. Phase 1 of the project (544 acres) will begin October of 2023. The project is located approx. 14 miles east of Foresthill, Calif. along Mosquito Ridge Road (FS Rd. 96) in the area of the Placer Big Trees Grove.
Smoke will be visible from the French Meadows area and possibly North Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas. Smoke impacts will be carefully monitored and efforts will be taken to reduce impacts to communities.
