Castf 2023Stfquarry Fire Information

The Quarry fire was one of many fires ignited by lightning strikes across the forest on September 9, 2023. District fire managers immediately worked to ensure these naturally ignited fires stayed within pre-determined boundaries. Fire personnel with the Stanislaus National Forest are currently managing the Quarry Fire to achieve multiple resource objectives.

Significant Events	Moderate Backing Flanking Creeping Fire behavior has increased as the weather pattern has become more favorable with the increased temperatures and decreased RH's, since the precipitation that occurred several days ago. Fire is mainly carrying in jack pots of dead and down fuels that have either dried out or were not affected by the moisture.

Outlook
Planned Actions	Monitor fire activity and utiilize ignitions as appropriate to minimize negative fire effects and promote forest restoration.
Projected Incident Activity	12 Hours: Fire spread to the northeast along Rock Creek is expected as conditions have improved for more active burning within the fire area. 24 Hours: Fire spread to the northeast along Rock Creek is expected as conditions have improved for more active burning within the fire area. Current fuel and weather conditions should support approximately 50 acres of growth daily. 48 Hours: Fire spread to the northeast along Rock Creek is expected as conditions have improved for more active burning within the fire area. Current fuel and weather conditions should support approximately 50 acres of growth daily. Crews will utilize natural barriers to keep the fire spread to the west and continuous fuels to the east should allow for further spread to the east. 72 Hours: Crews will have brought fire past Bourland Mountain and into Rock Creek where they will utilize trail systems and granite outcropping to control fire spread and moving northeast toward Coffin Hollow. Anticipated after 72 hours: Should fuels and weather continue to support fire growth it is expected approximately 50 acres a day will be added to the perimeter as the fire grows easterly from Bourland Mountain towards Coffin Hollow and then into the Chain Lakes area.
Remarks	UAS operations have been critical to the overall success of fire operations. Their ability to precisely apply fire to the landscape as well as their unparalleled agility in responding to needs across the perimeter have been a game changer.

Current Weather
Weather Concerns	Current weather pattern is increased temperatures and decreasing RH during peak burn periods. A general increase in fire behavior is expected the next several days due to the weather trened. However, future forecast weather may bring a return to moderate fire behavior as increased cloud cover and RH's are expected early next week.
