Smoke Outlook for Major Fire for May 25-26, 2023.

Fire
Due to a combination of lingering moisture and a developing
low pressure east of the fire, waves of showers will develop
through the day with thunderstorm potential increasing
Thursday afternoon. Additional chances for rain and breezy
NNE winds continue Friday under the influence of the low as
it drifts to the north off the Florida coast. Looking forward, a
drier airmass behind a weak front will bring warmer, drier,
less humid conditions this weekend and into early next
week. Isolated heavy fuels will continue to smolder.

Smoke
Right now the fire is smoldering in scattered, heavier fuels.
Smoke generation is going to be minimal for the next few
days until fuels dry enough to actively burn. For tonight, the
model shows smoke moving southwest as far as Highway 40.
Considering how fuels are reacting, it is doubtful there will
be enough smoke to move past the fire area.

Fire
Yesterday’s rain amounts across the fire area measured
between 2-4 inches, depending on location. Rain and
scattered thunderstorm chances will continue through at
least Thursday before dry air aloft moves across the fire
area this weekend bringing warming temperatures and
lower afternoon humidity. Rain has put a damper on fire
activity throughout the burn, with the exception of the area
around Silver Glen Springs. Fire is creeping and smoldering
fairly deep duff, and will continue to do so. Firefighters will
continue ferret out those areas and work to put them out.

Smoke
Isolated fire around Silver Glen Springs is expected continue
creeping and smoldering. Smoke generation will be low, and
any smoke that is generated should be fairly well dissipated
across the landscape, drifting west/southwest. Air quality will
continue to be Good.
