Borrega Fire Morning Update 4/3/2022

Location: Approximately 10 miles west of Kingsville, Texas
Size: 51,566 acres                                 
Containment: 98%                               
Current Resources: 4
 
Current Status: An engine from the Alice Task Force will be going to the fire this morning and will check on the fire. King Ranch management will continue to patrol and monitor everything inside the ranch boundary. Alice Task Force engine will be monitoring the fire today and communicate with landowners and local responders if there are any concerns. The fire experienced excellent moisture recoveries over night with no concerns as of yesterday. The fire is officially 98% contained. The containment has not reached 100% before Texas A&M Forest Service turned the fire over to locals to manage. Fire activity has remained low and the weather has worked in their favor, fire managers feel comfortable to release the fire to the local fire department and the private land owner.
 
Federal and state resources have been released and pending any significant change in fire activity this will be the last update for this fire.   
 

Weather & Fuel Conditions: Fire activity on this fire was minimal or null today, resources continued to mop up and mitigate any heat sources found. There is no expected increase in fire activity.
 
Resources Threatened: There are currently no resources threatened. 

Closures: 
Voluntary evacuations have been lifted in Kleberg County for the Ricardo and Riviera communities, as well as the King Ranch Gas Plant. 

Incident Overview: The Borrega fire started on March 30th and Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance from Kleberg County at approximately 4:30 pm. The request for assistance came from Kleberg County for Texas A&M Forest Service resource support with the fire located 10 miles south of Kingsville and east of Premont. Unified command has been established to assist with containment and suppression efforts.
