Northwest Incident Management Team 10, a Type 2 IMT, arrived yesterday to shadow Northwest Team 6. Transfer of command will occur at 6:00 a.m. on August 16. Daily updates will continue and a new phone number will be available for fire information at 5:00 p.m. today; call (541) 625-0687.

The Windigo Fire is now 70% contained and 1,052 acres. Crews will continue mop-up operations to ensure the fire does not grow out of its current footprint. Rehabilitation work has started on Forest Service Road 60.

Crews on the Potter Fire successfully completed burnout operations with the Ummanned Aircraft System (drone) on the southern edge. Resources on the southern and eastern portions of the fire will continue to hold the line and clean up the burnout operations. Firefighters will continue to prep indirect and contingency lines to the west.

After an infrared flight, no growth was reported on the Big Swamp Fire. Crews will continue to work off of the northwest anchor with the intention of reaching 100ft depth of mop-up. Hoses are being added to the east side for direct operations.

Resources on the fires include 861 total personnel comprised of 27 handcrews, 23 engines, 8 dozers, 11 water tenders, eight Type 1 Helicopters, one Type 3 Helicopter and two fixed-wing scoopers.

A warming trend will begin today as high temperatures reach 82-85 degrees. Northwest winds will blow over the Potter and Big Swamp Fires at 6-8 mph with gusts up to 15 mph. East winds on the Windigo Fire will reach speeds of 4-7 mph with gusts of up to 15 mph. Fire spotting distances may be up to .3 miles with a 40-80% chance of ignition.
