Firefighters Remain on Alert for New Fires as Containment Increases  Cottonwood Ridge, Snake Ridge, Spoon and New Fire Starts – August 6, 2023, Daily Update    Spoon Fire Quick Facts  Acres: 4,560 acres  Cause: Lightning  Containment: 80%  Start Date: July 24, 2023 
Wildland fire response support is a complex and dangerous environment for not only firefighters, but pilots and air support personnel. Air resources in wildland fire management includes emergency air medical transport, fixed and rotor wing pilots, spotters, and air qualified firefighters such as smokejumpers and rappelers. Aircraft use in wildland fire support include a variety of planes, helicopters, and unmanned aircraft systems also known as drones.

Firefighters Reassigned to New Fires as Containment Increases  Spoon Fire Quick Facts  Acres: 4,560 acres  Cause: Lightning  Containment: 80%  Start Date: July 24, 2023  Location: 2.5 miles east of Highway 60 between Globe and Show Low, AZ. 11 miles southwest of Cedar Creek  Fuels: Piñyon- Juniper, Manzanita, Grass, Cedar 
Camp crews are the backbone to maintaining a clean camp environment and supplying firefighters and administrative staff with all major needs related to the fires’ incident management. The camp crew maintenance and camp crew supply units set the incident command post (ICP) up for success. They do this by setting up the camp layout, safety signage and barriers, supplying ice, water and sports drinks, maintaining ICP grounds daily and supplying camp and firefighter needs to maintain a clean and fully stocked camp to meet incident needs.
