Planned burn on West Dolores Rim Sept. 19, 2022

Tres Rios Field Office plans to burn 884 acres on Monday, September 19, 2022 within the West Dolores Rim Project Area located about seven miles east of Dove Creek and locally referred to as the “East and North Pines.”
Prescribed Burn at Government Springs area cancelled May 5, 2022

Sims Mesa prescribed burn on BLM-managed lands south of Montrose along Government Springs Road has been cancelled for May 5, due to high winds and low relative humidity in the weather forecast for the next five days. Fire managers will continue to look for a safe day to burn if conditions allow until May 15th when a wildlife closure goes into effect.

Over the last week, high winds and low humidity have resulted in dry vegetation creating unfavorable conditions for the Animas City Mountain prescribed burn and other burn projects in the area. Fire managers have been carefully measuring the amount of moisture within dead and live vegetation which must fall within a strict range for fire managers to consider a prescribed fire.
Tres Rios Field Office Successfully Burn 75 piles in West Dolores Rim Area

West Dolores Rim area had favorable conditions today (1/13/2022) which allowed firefighters to burn 75 piles within the 10-acres project area on Tres Rios Field Office BLM-administered lands. Expect to see light smoke east of Hwy 141 near Egnar, CO.

The BLM Southwest District had favorable conditions today to burn 75 piles on the West Dolores Rim 10-acre project area within the Tres Rios Field Office BLM-administered lands. The area is approximately 2.5 miles east of Egnar, CO and Highway 141. Light smoke maybe visible from Hwy 141 and Egnar, CO.
