Fire personnel continued to monitor the #CowCreekRx burn area over the weekend. The burn area had minimal fire behavior and minimal smoke, which came primarily from the interior of the burn area.

Work is completed for today, Wednesday, Sept. 27, on the #CowCreekRx Prescribed Burn area located approximately 9 miles east of Gateway, Colorado, and 25 miles southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado. Firefighters spent the day securing the perimeter and completing work on Unit 1 of this prescribed burn plan.

Fire personnel are working today, Wednesday, Sept. 27, on securing the perimeter and addressing final burning locations for the Unit 1 area of the #CowCreekRx burn. This burn is located approximately 9 miles east of Gateway, Colorado, and 25 miles southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Due to ideal weather conditions, ignitions have begun on #CowCreekRX.The Cow Creek prescribed burn project area is approximately 9 miles east of Gateway, Colorado and 25 miles southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado. The project area includes Cow Creek, Calamity Creek and Indian Creek.

Firefighters had a successful day on the #CowCreekRX. The conditions allowed them to treat 1000 acres. Operations will continue tomorrow if conditions are good. Smoke will continue to be visible.

Ignitions have ceased for the day on the #CowCreekRx burn east of Gateway, Colorado. Firefighters were able to successfully complete an additional 1000 acres today, Tuesday, Sept. 26.If conditions allow, firefighters plan to ignite tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 27, in order to complete burning operations for the Unit 1/North Unit area of the map below.
