Rum Creek Fire Evening Highlight for Friday, September 9

Rum Creek Fire
Publication Type: News 09/09/2022

Today the Rum Creek Fire experienced no increase in size. The public is reminded there is an active Heat Advisory and Red Flag Warning for Josephine County lasting through Saturday night. Unprecedented heat, low humidity, and winds will create critical fire conditions. The public should be very cautious this weekend as the risk for new fire starts and rapid growth will be extreme.

Earlier this week Josephine County reduced evacuation orders East of the Rum Creek Fire. Roads into reduced evacuation order zones remain closed to non-residents. Residents entering these closures must have identification. These roads remain closed to the public for their safety, as well as the safety of residents returning to their homes, and firefighters who are still hard at work. Road closures East of the fire include Lower Grave Creek, Quartz Creek, Galice at Hog Creek, and Galice at Crow. South of the fire, Stratton Creek is closed. West of the fire, road closures include South Fork Galice Road.
