Clover Fire Update August 6, 2022

Clover Fire
Publication Type: News 08/07/2022

Yesterday’s Operations: Firefighters patrolled and monitored the fire perimeter to ensure it stayed within constructed containment lines. The GYA Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) conducted a comprehensive transition brief to in-coming IMT. Today’s Operations:  Firefighters will patrol and monitor the fire perimeter to ensure it stays within constructed containment lines.  Firefighters will also begin working on the suppression/repair phase. This includes collecting and piling unburned trimmed limbs near containment lines.  At a later date they will be burned in order to reduce fuels near containment lines, thereby strengthening the containment lines for future fire breaks.

Strategy: The fire is currently being managed under a confine/contain    strategy due to fuel conditions, geographic location and values at risk.  The objective is to contain fire in the Middle Fork Warm Springs Creek drainage, utilizing fuel type changes, natural breaks and burnout operations. Weather:  High probability for showers and thunderstorms through this afternoon. Between 0.25 and 0.35 of an inch of rainfall could fall through tonight on fire. Lightning, gusty winds to 45mph and small hail could accompany the storms this afternoon. Temperature between 58 and 62 degrees.  Minimum humidity between 58 and 63 percent.  Wind Southwest 8-10 mph, shifting to the west-northwest 8 to 14 mph late afternoon. Wind gusts to 45 mph are possible with storm outflows. A warming and drying trend is expected Sunday into early next week. Safety of firefighters and the public are the highest priorities for incident management.  An area Closure Order remains in effect until October 30, 2022 or until rescinded, and can be viewed at the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest webpage: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/bdnf/alerts-notices.
