Smoke Outlook 9.19.21

River Complex 2021
Publication Type: News 09/19/2021

Fire
Containment on the RIVER COMPLEX held at 45% with little/no growth yesterday (IR unavailable due to clouds). Rain showers continue over the NW areas of the fire this morning, which received 0.7-1.0" of rain from yesterday's storm little growth is likely today. The ANTELOPE FIRE likely grew 3-400 acres (No IR; containment = 88%) and received about 0.2-0.6" of rain yesterday, with little growth also likely today. See inciweb.nwcg.gov for the latest.
Smoke
We are seeing Good air quality this morning throughout the forecast area. Any impacts today would be due to new fire activity, which is unlikely, but would most likely occur near the fires under light NW winds likely after the showers this morning clear. Tomorrow, NW winds and drying are likely to continue, and any smoke to Moderate/USG will be most likely to show up near to, and SE of, fire activity.
Health and Safety
When good air quality presents itself, but the fires aren't out, it is a good opportunity to open windows and air out your house. More about protecting yourself from wildfire smoke at: ww2.arb.ca.gov/protecting-yourself-wildfire-smoke/
