CURRENT SITUATION:

The rain arrived sooner than was forecasted and moderated fire activity. The areas around Cronan received almost 1inch of rain, Cecilville /Sommerville areas .7-.8 of an inch, south of Callahan approximately .5 an inch, and areas of Coffee Creek/ Trinity about .25- .5 of an inch. Resources staged in place in safe areas during times of heavy rain to avoid equipment getting stuck, the increased risk of snags falling, and slipping hazards. The rain has created an opportunity for crews to take advantage of the current weather conditions for the next four to five days to undertake direct fire line construction and re-enforcement. The rain event will assist the firefighting effort; however, it is not expected to be a season ending event. Later in the week temperatures will increase leading to dryer fuels and increased fire activity.

On Friday, Siskiyou County Sheriff reduced the Evacuation Orders for several zones around Cecilville to Evacuation Warnings. Yesterday, Trinity County Sheriff removed the Evacuation Warnings for Trinity County Zones 6 and 7. For the most up to date evacuation information, refer to the County websites listed below.
