CURRENT SITUATION:

Fire activity was minimal yesterday with limited growth and firefighters were able to do direct line construction along the edge of the fire in many locations. Fire activity will continue to increase today and tomorrow due to warmer, drier conditions. The Cronan Fire remains within its present perimeter. Crews on the ground continue to patrol the area and gather unneeded equipment. Cecilville and Summerville are being patrolled as crews clean up the area. Crews are searching for and eliminating residual sources of heat along the fire containment line south of Highway 93 and near Carter Meadows. The steep terrain in Sugar Hill makes it challenging to access this area, crews will continue working on putting in handline and some dozer line as they are able. The containment line south of Callahan has increased. Yesterday, crews put in additional hose and handline to reinforce existing handline south of Craggy Peak. Infrared mapping did not show any heat in this area. Yesterday, airtankers made a total of total 22 fire retardant drops on the fire to support crews on the ground near Eagle Creek and Minnehaha Creek. Four hotshot crews were able to use direct and indirect suppression efforts on the fire in this area. Firefighters will continue to identify opportunities to work on containment line. Additional dozer lines were added in the areas north and south of Coffee Creek. The Coffee Creek Road has been reopened to residents only.
