River Complex Fire Update

Fire Statistics: Total complex 135,689 acres, 19% containment. Haypress 129,749 acres - increase due to Summer merging with Haypress. Cronan 5,940 acres. Total structures destroyed: 6 single residences and 9 minor structures, all prior to the weekend. 

 

Resources: 803 Personnel; 11 Hand Crews; 9 Helicopters; 45 Engines, 20 Dozers; 26 Water Tenders; 10 Masticators; 2 Skid Steers; 14 mules, 3 horses 

 

Summary: Fire behavior was active yesterday and will be active again today with increased growth expected. Crews will use all available tools and tactics to protect lives, property, and other values, while providing for firefighter and public safety.  The Summer Fire has merged with the Haypress Fire. On the Haypress Fire, crews are dealing with spotting in the northeast, near Blue Jay Ridge. A point of Parker’s Spot has burned into the main fire. The Coffee Spike Camp will be moved to Trinity Center today. The Cronan Fire remains in patrol status. 

 

Safety: Take a moment today to appreciate the safety measures that are used to protect you and the firefighters during this fire season. Be mindful of congested traffic as communities evacuate. 

 

 

Evacuations:  New evacuation warnings for Callahan, Mosquito Lake, and Eagle Creek. Siskiyou County has issued evacuation orders and warnings for the communities of Ceciville, Summerville, Petersburg and Sawyers Bar. Community Meeting: Tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 9 at 6 p.m. at the Etna City Park in Etna, CA. Please bring your own chairs. 

 

Road Closures: The following road closures are in effect. Coffee Creek Road west of Hwy.3. Cecilville Road east and south from Matthews Creek including Cecilville, Taylor Creek Road, Caribou Road. Summerville areas following South Fork of the Salmon River and North Fork of the Salmon. North and west of the SIskiyou Trinity County Line. Sawyers Bar Road from Hwy. 93 to Yellow Jacket Road. Hwy 3 remains open, but may change based on fire operations. 
 

Forest Closures: The USDA Forest Service has issued a temporary closure of all National Forests in California. This closure will be in effect through September 17, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. For more information, please visit  https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r5/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD949139.
