River Complex 2021
Publication Type: News 10/04/2021

Today, California Interagency Incident Management Team 15 honors the 40th anniversary of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.  The 215 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2019 and 2020 will become a permanent part of the National Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, in honor of their sacrifices.  For more information, visit https://www.firehero.org/events/memorial-weekend/

Etna, CA- Even though we have been in a warming and drying trend, the heat along the River Complex perimeter is diminishing each operational period, due to the hard work by both ground and air resources.  Southwest winds will become breezy this afternoon and are predicted to increase Monday ahead of the approaching cold front. The weather is still forecasted to begin a significant cooling trend starting Tuesday. This pattern will remain in place through the weekend and most likely into the following week.

The crews continue to make good progress as they focus on three operational priorities: direct line construction in the last portions of open line on the eastern flank of the fire near Bloody Run Creek, strengthening and improving the existing control lines, and rehabilitation on the lines which were constructed during the last two month's suppression efforts.
