Summary: A quarter-inch of rain fell on the fire last night, improving conditions for firefighters. Last night a well-attended community meeting was held in Etna Park to brief citizens and answer questions. Protecting lives, firefighter safety and property remain top priorities. On Thursday, the Haypress fire continued its northeastern push toward Callahan and Hwy 3, burning over the top of Craggy Peak. However, after rainfall this morning the fire spread has moderated. A dedicated structure protection group is working to assess and initiate fire protection measures in and around Callahan. The Cronan Fire is holding and remains in patrol status. Of the 32 fires started on July 30, only 2 fires remain active today.

Safety: Residents are encouraged to follow evacuation orders so they are not putting themselves and firefighters who would work to save them at risk. Please be aware of fire traffic and drive safe.
