 River Complex Fire Update

Daily Morning Operations Briefing Video with Map: https://fb.watch/7UAfqhJych/

Community Meeting: Thursday, September 9 at 6 p.m. at the Etna City Park in Etna, CA. Please bring your own chairs.

Fire Statistics: Total complex 135,792 acres, 19% containment. Haypress (includes Summer) 129,749 acres. Cronan 5,940 acres. Total structures destroyed: 6 single residences and 9 minor structures. Assessment of structure loss is ongoing from last last night’s blow-up.   Resources: 859 Personnel; 14 Hand Crews; 8 Helicopters; 48 Engines, 20 Dozers; 26 Water Tenders; 9 Masticators; 7 Skid Steers; 14 mules, 3 horses

Summary: Yesterday’s fire behavior exhibited extreme behavior with rapid rates of spread on the northeast and east flanks. The extreme conditions and steep terrain contributed to multiple roll outs. Today’s priorities are protecting lives, property, and other values, while providing for firefighter and public safety.  On the Haypress Fire, fire established itself on Billy’s Peak with a six-mile run to the northeast. Crews continue structure defense by reinforcing lines and property protection in Callahan area. The Cronan Fire is holding and remains in patrol status.

Safety: Residents should heed evacuation orders so they are not putting themselves at risk and pulling firefighter resources off the flames to provide rescue services.
