Lime Complex Daily Update July 21, 2022

Lime Complex
Publication Type: News 07/22/2022
The Lime Complex consists of two staffed fires and sixteen unstaffed fires. The total size of the combined fires is 865,620 acres, and there are 111 resources assigned to the complex, an area covering 21 million acres. Each of these fires was caused by lightning. We continue to monitor unstaffed fires for growth and potential threats to identified values and are ready to respond if needed to protect values at risk.    Containment: 56%   Staffed Fires in the Complex Door Mountain (114,294 acres) Koktuli River/Pike Creek (293,970 acres)   Thank you to the communities in southwest Alaska for your support of NWTeam 9 and the firefighters. Management of the Lime Complex will be moving over to the Mat-Su Southwest Area Alaska Department of Forest on Friday morning. Operations in Iliamna are complete. In Lime Village, firefighters are preparing for backhaul of equipment. Sleetmute, firefighters finished work along the river corridor on Wednesday and are now packing equipment to fly out.   An IR flight was conducted on Tuesday, July 19. No change was detected along the fire perimeter and no areas of intense fire were detected. Very small areas of scattered fire were detected within the southwestern portion of the 240 (Koktuli and Pike Creek) fire perimeter. All fire indices are continuing to moderate because of the consistent and significant precipitation over the complex area.                                                                                     Weather: Rain will taper to scattered showers this evening, with scattered showers anticipated on Thursday. Isolated to scattered showers are anticipated on Friday and Saturday, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours each day. Chances for wetting rain over weekend are low but chances for rain will increase again early next week.
