Lime Complex Daily Update July 17, 2022

Lime Complex
Publication Type: News 07/17/2022

The Lime Complex consists of two staffed fires and sixteen unstaffed fires. The total size of the combined fires is 865,620 acres, and there are 126 resources assigned to the complex, an area covering 21 million acres. Each of these fires was caused by lightning. We continue to monitor unstaffed fires for growth and potential threats to identified values. Resources are ready to respond to currently unstaffed fires in the event they begin to show increased fire activity.

Containment: 56%

Staffed Fires in the Complex

Door Mountain (114,294 acres)

Kuktuli River/Pike Creek (293,970 acres)

Crews in the northern section of the complex continue to pull and backhaul equipment around allotments and cabins along the Kuskokwin corridor and near Lime Village. Where needed, firefighters will repair damages resulting from suppression activities. The work includes repairing hand lines, camps, safety zones and drop points. These operations are expected to continue over the next four or five days. Crews continue to patrol and monitor any changes within the Lime Village burnout.

In the southern portion of the complex near Iliamna firefighters are pulling, backhauling equipment, and conducting repair work. These operations are expected to continue over the next three or four days.

As conditions allow, crews will monitor the fires within the Lime Complex by air. Recent widespread rainfall has limited fire activity and is expected to continue over the next few days.

Weather: An upper-level trough will remain the dominant weather feature over the weekend and into early next week. For today, skies will be cloudy with periods of rain. Temperatures will be near 60% with relative humidity between 69-74%. Winds will be south to south to southwest at 8-12 mph.
