Lime Complex Daily Update
July 14, 2022

The Lime Complex consists of two staffed fires and sixteen unstaffed fires. The total size of the combined fires is 865,620 acres, and there are 141 resources assigned to the complex, an area covering 21 million acres. Each of these fires was caused by lightning. We continue to monitor unstaffed fires for growth and potential threats to identified values.

Staffed Fires in the Complex
Door Mountain (114,294 acres)
Kuktuli River/Pike Creek (293,970 acres)

Great progress was made by the Malheur Rappel crew and Galice Wildland Fire Module (WFM) and they will continue to mop up Lime Village with the objective of 100% coverage of the area. The Garden Valley and Idaho Panhandle modules have repositioned to Tundra Lake inholding and are constructing a saw line for protection to further mitigate potential threats. These efforts will bolster protection measures on this portion of the fire surrounding Trout and Kotokbuna Lake allotments.Grande Ronde rappelers and Burns helitack have secured an allotment cluster and cabin site on the northern edge of the fire. Crews are taking advantage of the wet weather and have now started assessments of the central cluster of allotments in the Koktuli area.

Weather/Fire behavior: Mostly cloudy skies expected to continue Thursday in between systems, though scattered showers are anticipated. Temperatures should rise into the 60s with humidity bottoming out in the 50 to 60% range in the Lime Village vicinity and 60 to 705 near Iliamna. However, a series of systems should cross the Complex area from later tonight through early next week, leading to widespread wetting rain as well as continued cool temperatures and moderated humidity.

The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) remains in place over the southern portion of the planning area near Lake Iliamna. Aerial water drops and logistical air support remain active in this area when smoke and weather allow for safe flying. Fire Boss planes are staged in McGrath and may be working out of waterways in the Iliamna and Lime Village areas. Helicopters and other aircraft providing support to firefighting resources on the ground will also be working in the area. Please avoid this airspace for public and firefighter safety. Remember—the fire area is a no-fly zone for private drones—if you fly we can’t.
