The lightning-caused Mill Lake Fire located 12 miles west of Corvallis up Mill Canyon has grown to 450 acres. Most of the growth yesterday was to the north and south (downsloap and upsloap) from the main fire area. There was little to no growth further down canyon, from west to east (towards Corvallis). Fire activity this morning was minimal with smoldering in the burned out areas from yesterday.

Hamilton, MT, April 9 —The Stevensville Ranger District has completed prescribed burn operations at the Bass Creek Recreation Area northwest of Stevensville.  Firefighters were successful yesterday in treating the entire target area of 600 acres. Smoke may be visible at times today and may settle in low lying areas this evening.
Reminder, the Bass Creek Recreation area on the Stevensville Ranger District will be closed tomorrow and Saturday as fire crews conduct a 620-acre prescribed burn to reduce hazardous fuels, restore wildlife habitat, and better protect communities from future wildfires.
Hamilton, MT, April 1 — The Bitterroot National Forest is advising horseback riders, hikers, and other recreationists that prescribed burning is scheduled next week at the Bass Creek Recreation Area northwest of Stevensville.  Pending favorable conditions, the 620-acre burn could begin as early as Wednesday, April 6th and will temporarily impact some roads and trails in the recreation area for 2-3 days. To provide for visitor safety, the area will be closed to the public during active burning and monitoring operation
