East Crater Fire Photographs

The photo shows the basin of East Crater with a still grassy green patch in the bottom center of the crater.  Conifer trees all around are blackened with needles burned off.  Forest floor is devoid of most vegetation due to recent fire activity.

Conifer trees can be seen in the foreground with small brushy forest plants and decaying logs.  Some of these have been burned or blackened others are still green causing a mosaic appearance to the landscape.

Slope along side  a gravelroad shoing the results of a fuels reduction treatment involving the removal of medium size conifers and snags (dead and dying trees in various stages of decay.  Understory plants that are short and bushy remain on the landscape.

Two large pieces of equipment, one with a bucket and a thumb (excavator) and one with a large round saw and clampers removing small green conifers alongside a gravel road with small brushy understory, huckleberry and bear grass.
