Radford Fire Update September 12, 2022

Radford
Publication Type: News 09/12/2022

 INCIDENT INFORMATION

Start Date: 09/05/2022 Location: Converse Creek drainage in the Santa Ana River watershed in San Bernardino County CA Engines: 12 Crews: 8 Water Tenders: 3 Size: 1079 acres Percent containment: 68% Cause: Undetermined Dozers: 2 Aircraft: 2 Total Personnel: 306

CURRENT CONDITIONS:

The fire perimeter held, other than a small slop over on the western edge of the Radford Fire yesterday. Helicopters were able to extinguish the flames with water drops. Firefighters were able to construct line around it, secure it, and mop up to strengthen the containment line.

On the southern and eastern edge, there was no threat to the fire perimeter and ground resources worked to backhaul hose and prepare for suppression repair efforts. Today, firefighters continue to concentrate on suppression repair. This includes hauling out trash, hand-line and road-repair. Road repair involves cleaning out culverts and drains of debris and dirt, pulling back berms where dozers graded roads and chipping all cut vegetation along roads.

Today, increased moisture over the fire area remains from Tropical Storm Kay with predicted thunderstorms. This current weather pattern will continue to bring scattered showers, lightning, and the potential for mud and debris flows.

WEATHER:

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are predicted with temperatures 65-70 degrees. Relative humidity is at 40 percent with winds from the southwest at 5 to 8 mph and gusts to 15 mph.
