Colony Fire August 6, 2022 Final Update

Size: 467 acres
Containment: 100%
Cause: Under Investigation
Start Date: August 3, 2022

Current Situation
After patrolling and monitoring the fire all day yesterday crews found no new smokes or hot areas. At this time the fire has been called 100% contained and handed back to local fire department. All of the resources that were working on this fire have been released back to their units to prepare themselves and their equipment for the next fire that occurs.

Smoke will continue to be seen in the area as pockets of heat inside the lines continue to burn. These pockets don't present a threat to the line and will continue to smolder until they are burned up. Resources will secure all edges of the fire before they release the incident. Smokes may still rise in the area and residents should not be alarmed unless they see a new smoke in a different area, this ensures resources are available for new fire starts.

We would like to thank the residents of Hood county for their continued support of their local volunteer fire departments in this busy fire season.
