 Containment: 4%
 Start Date: April 12, 2022
 Location/Origin: Nogal Canyon
Fuels: Ponderosa, pinon and juniper, dry grasses
Structures Burned: 6 primary, 8 outbuildings

Highlights: Yesterday fire activity decreased significantly on the Nogal Fire. Operations: The Nogal Canyon Fire is located west of Capitan, New Mexico. Crews are working in steep, rugged terrain.  Firefighters continue to concentrate on point protection and are patrolling for hotspots near structures in order to protect private property. The fire has affected both sides of Nogal Canyon. Today crews are able to focus more on constructing direct fire line to keep the fire from moving towards the town of Nogal and constructing fire control lines in the lower areas of the canyon.

Lincoln County Mercantile is offering to help owners of animals that are being housed at the Capitan Fairgrounds, due to evacuations. Contact the manager at 575 354-4260.

Evacuations: All of Nogal Canyon remains in evacuation status. As soon as it is safe for the public to re-enter the fire area, an update will be posted.

Weather: Thursday, April 14Sunshine, low humidity and winds will contribute to drive fire activity today. Temperature highs in the mid-60s, humidity 5-8%. West-Southwest winds up to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon, Gusts to 30 mph.

Restrictions/Closures: Nogal Canyon remains closed.
