Sand Creek Fire Update - September 21, 2021

Sand Creek Fire Wildfire
News – 9/21/2021

Acreage: 929
Containment: 45%
Personnel: 123

Current Situation

There has been no active growth on the fire, with it remaining at 929 acres and 45% containment. This fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy, ensuring all actions reflect a commitment to incident personnel safety and public safety. With minimal fire activity and favorable weather, the current Type 3 incident management team will transition to a Type 4 team tonight at 8:00 pm.

Operational plan for today

Yesterday Division Alpha made their way around the edge of the slop over and were able to work on direct line construction.  Division Delta walked the North perimeter of the fire, saw no active growth, and will continue to monitor the line. With no new growth on the Southeast edge of the fire since last Saturday, Division Sierra will no longer be staffed. Crews will continue to patrol for spot fires and extinguish when safe to do so. Mop up efforts will continue to increase containment. Arial resources will be available to assist ground crews throughout today as well as provide any initial attack support that may be needed. Current air support will remain in place to assist the Type 4 team.
