Sand Creek Fire Daily Update - September 19, 2021

Acreage: 929
Containment: 44%
Personnel: 120

Current Situation

The fire increased to 929 acres yesterday with containment at 44%. High winds are expected to return from the Southwest, with Monday bringing cooler, moister, air and less wind. This fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy, ensuring all actions reflect a commitment to incident personnel safety and public safety.

Operational plan for today

Due to high winds a 22-acre slop over occurred on the Southwest corner of the fire. Accordingly, 2 additional crews have arrived to help contain this when safe to do so. In addition, on the Northeast corner of the fire high winds created spot fires that were able to be caught. Crews in this area will continue to patrol and extinguish spot fires when safe to do so.
