Sand Creek Fire Daily Update - September 15, 2021

Acreage: 907
Containment: 7%
Personnel: 149

A multi-mission aircraft (MMA) flight over the area yesterday mapped the current fire perimeter at 907 acres.  Most of the fire growth indicated on the updated map occurred on Sunday.  Direct line construction performed yesterday increased containment of the fire to 30% on the west and north edges of the fire.  This fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy, ensuring all actions reflect a commitment to incident personnel safety and public safety.

Operational plan for today
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for today through Thursday which may contribute to more active fire behavior.  Ongoing pockets of activity and areas of smoke may be visible throughout today.  Both division Alpha and Delta will continue direct line construction today as well as mop-up operations including addressing hotspots near the fire line edge.  Division Sierra will prep for possible burn out operation if needed.  The North Fork Structure group including the night shift will continue to monitor the area.  The two Type 1 helicopters and one Type 3 helicopter will continue aerial water drops on active areas of the fire and conduct reconnaissance flights if needed to provide information to ground crews.
