 Sand Creek Fire Daily Update - September 14, 2021

A multi-mission aircraft (MMA) flight scheduled to fly over the fire area yesterday is now set to fly Tuesday morning to map the fire perimeter and provide an updated acreage along with detecting hot spots on the perimeter.  Containment is now at 7% as crews were able to directly work the west and north edges of the fire.  This fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy, ensuring all actions reflect a commitment to incident personnel safety and public safety.

Operational plan for today 
Direct line construction will continue throughout today.  Division Alpha will work the north and west sides of the fire, and division Delta will work the northeast edge of the fire allowing resources to be shifted through the divisions if needed.  Division Sierra will continue to access the west and south side of the fire scouting for possible burn out operation locations.  The North Fork Structure group which includes night shift will continue to monitor the area.  Aerial resources will continue support of crews and conduct water drops on active areas of the fire and areas inaccessible to ground resources. 

Shoshone and Arapaho Fish and Game Road Closure
The Shoshone and Arapaho Fish and Game have issued a road closure for the Moccasin Lake and Dickinson Park Road located within the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Fire Conditions and Weather
Sunday night wetting rain showers moved over the fire area.  Showers came to an end early Monday morning ushering in cooler and drier air to the area through Tuesday.  Areas of smoke may be present thought the day.  There is a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon with upslope/up valley winds 5-10 mph becoming west 10-15mph in the afternoon.  Elevated fire weather returns Wednesday and remains though the rest of the week.
