Yesterday and Overnight: Warmer drier weather helped ensure successful burning operations to strengthen containment lines. Crews along Bumping River Road continued to improve structure protection as well as test sprinkler set ups. Air resources were used to assist with fire activity along Bumping River Road and Old River Road. Monitoring of structures in and around the Cliffdell area is ongoing. Along the rest of the perimeter of the fire (along Highway 410 south of Cliffdell to the junction of US 12 and from the junction of US 12 westward), fire personnel continued to back haul equipment no longer in use. Hazard tree mitigation continued along Old River Road and crews continued mopping up previous burnouts along the FR 1706.
Today: A slight increase in temperature is forecast with light southeasterly winds. Firefighters will continue to test sprinkler set ups in the areas along Highway (HWY) 410, Cliffdell and Goose Prairie to ensure functionality. Use of heavy equipment along the containment line south of the Forest Road (FR) 1706 will resume. Along the perimeter of the entire fire, crews will patrol and collect excess equipment. Suppression repair (chipping vegetation removed during suppression activities or improving road conditions from fire use) continues with crews moving from the southern portion of the fire to the northeast. Into the evening, firefighters will continue to monitor the fire situation and provide structure protection if needed.
Evacuations: Yakima Valley Emergency Management has updated the evacuation levels as follows: LEVEL 2: The intersection of Little Naches Road and Hwy 410 to Wash Creek and HWY 410 (both sides of the highway).
