People and Equipment:  398 personnel, 8 hand crews, 12 engines, 1 helicopter, 2 bulldozers, 7 water tenders,  1 masticator, 10 excavators, 3 skidders

Current Situation: The Monument Fire footprint is 223,124 acres and it is 94% contained. The main work left is hazard tree mitigation along roads and suppression repair of dozer-lines and other remnants left over from fighting the fire.  This work has been completed in all areas north of Hyampom on the west side of the fire foot print and all work east and north of Junction City has been finished.  Hazard tree removal work is continuing along the 16 Road south of Big Bar; 90% of the high priority hazard tree removal work along the main roads has been completed.  Firefighters are continuing the suppression repair and rehabilitation with hazard tree removal in the southern end.  “The Monument Fire has been a long fire fight and we appreciate the hard work of the firefighters,” said Incident Commander Chris Fogle.
The incident continues to be managed from the Incident Command Post in Redding with operational and overhead resources working out of camps in Weaverville and Hayfork. As work is completed, these fire camps will be shut down.
Weaverville Residents:  Please note that the Shasta-Trinity National Forest is planning a prescribed burn today in the Weaverville Community Forest area.  If you see smoke today in this area, it is part of this project.  Please refer to  Shasta-Trinity RX Burning 2021-2022 information on Inciweb.
Weather and Fire Behavior: A dry stable air mass will be with us much of the day giving way to increasing clouds and winds in the evening. Southeast winds could produce gust in the 20-25 mph range later in the evening. Rain is likely overnight and into Wednesday. Between one half to three quarters of an inch is possible. Forecasted wetting rains expected later in the day will reduce remaining fire activity and slow down suppression repair and hazard tree mitigation.   Forest Closure: The Shasta-Trinity National Forest issued a superseding Forest closure order with a map on October 2, 2021 that opens up areas on the western and northwestern flanks of the Monument Fire. Please see the order for specific roads and trails still closed. National Forest closures near the Monument and other fires remain in effect to keep local communities and the firefighters safe. All closure orders and maps are on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest website home page. Before visiting the Forest, please check the order and avoid closed areas.    Road Closures and Restrictions (Trinity County):  Please check  https://roads.dot.ca.gov/ for current highway conditions on Highway 299:  work is in progress due to Monument Fire and rock-slides.    A temporary flight restriction remains in effect for the Monument Fire.    Disaster Loans Available: Business Physical Disaster Loans, Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Home Disaster Loans are available through the U.S. Small Business Administration for qualifying applicants in Trinity County affected by the Monument or other wildfires. You can find information and apply online at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov, call the Small Business Administration’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or email distastercustomerservice@sba.gov.    Other Fires: For questions about the River Complex Fire, please call the River Complex Fire Information Line at 707-596-6075 or email 2021.river@firenet.gov. Information about the River Complex can be found in InciWeb at www.inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7760.  For questions about the Fawn or Maxwell Fires, please call the Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit at 530-225-2418.
