 Area, Road, and Trail Closure

PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads, and trails all within the Big Piney Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A (the "Closed Area" and "Closed Roads and Trails"):

  1. Going into or being upon the Closed Area. 36 CFR 261.Sl(e)
  2. Being on the Closed Roads and Trails. 36 CFR 261.54(a), 36 CFR 261.SS(a)

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e) the following persons are exempt from this order:

  1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

DESCRIPTION OF CLOSED AREA, ROADS, AND TRAILS:

The Closed Area and Closed Roads and Trails are located in the Big Piney Ranger District, Bridger-Teton National Forest, Sublette and Lincoln Counties, Wyoming and in:

  • Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, Township 31 North, Range 115 West, 6th P.M.
  • Sections 22, 23, 25 and 26, Township 32 North, Range 115 West, 6th P.M.
  • Sections 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 25, 26, Township 32 North, Range 116 West, 6th P.M.
  • Sections 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36, Township 33N, Range 116 West, 6th P.M.

Closed Area: NFS lands bounded by the starting point of National Forest System Road (NFSR) 10125 (South Cottonwood ) on the Forest boundary, then proceeding approximately 8 miles south along the Forest boundary to a point due east of the road junction of N RSR I 0046 and I 0373, proceeding from that junction west to Lunch C reek, then Northwest along Lunch Creek to National Forest System Trail (NFST) # 059, proceeding along trail #059 to trail #048 (Wyoming Range National Scenic Trail), then northerly along trail #048 to a point on the trail due west of the end of FSR 10343, then east along section line to the end of NFSR 10 343, then south east to the end of NFSR  10342, then south east  to the end  of  the forest spur road  along  Irene Creek  and its junction with trail #047, then south along trail #047 to NFSR 10 1 25, then  east along NFSR 10125 to its starting point on the Forest Boundary.
 

Closed Roads and Trails: The following National Forest System roads (NFSR) and National Forest System trails (NFST) within the Closed Area:

  • NFSR 10340, 10341, 10050, 10 046, 1 0339, 10370 , 10 348, 10371
  • NFST 047, 048, 058, 059, 066, 069, 358 

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this order is to protect public safety and health from the effects of the Soda Lake Fire.

IMPLEMENTATION:

  1. This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until August 30, 2021.
  2. A map identifying the Closed Area and Closed Roads and Trails is attached and made part of this Order.
  3. Any violation of the above prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for individu als, and $1 0,000.00 for organizations and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. 16 U.S.C. 551, 18 U.S.C . 3571 , 18 U.S .C. 3581.
  4. This Order supersedes any previous orders prohibiting the same acts covered by this Order.
