News – 7/29/2021

BAER Geologists assess Salt, Lava and Tennant wildfire burned areas

The Forest Service Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Geologists are assessing the burned areas in the Salt, Lava and Tennant wildfires for geological hazards that could occur post-fire during rainstorm events. They will include their analysis and findings in three separate BAER assessment reports for each of the wildfires and will be shared and posted on InciWeb.

The 1st photo is of the Bolam Creek drainage in the Lava Fire burned area which shows past debris flow tracks.

The 2nd photo is on Forest Service Road 45N58X in the Tennant Fire on Mount Hebron and shows a mild rock fall potential during rainstorm events.

The 3rd photo shows a pre-fire, recent debris flow deposit along Bolam Creek in the Lava Fire.
