Daily Update - Goat Fire - August, 7th, 2021

Goat Fire Wildfire
News – 8/7/2021

Yesterday's Operations: Ground resources and felling crews working on the fire yesterday continued mop up and cold trailing from the northwest edge to the south. Heavy equipment operations continued to tie up contingency lines. Firefighting efforts, utilizing natural barriers and taking advantage of recent weather, have resulted in minimal growth of the fire.

Today's Operations: Warmer temperatures and gusty winds are projected for today. Fire crews will continue mop up operations on the fire’s edge while remaining vigilant should the weather adversely affect fire behavior. Heavy equipment will begin to focus their efforts on implementing road rehabilitation plans.

Smoke Report: A large blanket of smoke begins to move in from California wildfires. Low pressure systems last nigt helped clear smoke over most of the state. More wildfire smoke information can be found here.

Fire Restrictions: Stage II restrictions are still in effect

NOTICE: The area surrounding the Goat Fire is under a closure order and access to this area is prohibited. If you do not need to access the area, PLEASE DON’T. Due to safety concerns, each time the public accesses the area firefighting operations must pause for both public and firefighter safety, thereby delaying the suppression of the fire. Thank you!
