Current Situation
- Crews successfully engaged flare-ups caused by warmer and drier weather earlier in the week.
- Firefighters laid hose around a 4-acre spot fire near Lodge Grass Creek and air resources dropped buckets on spots above Cub Creek.
- Bighorn National Forest announced a reduction of the closure area around the fire which will take effect today.
Operational plan for today
- Firefighters will continue to work on spots in the Lodge Grass Creek and Cub Creek.
- Crews will continue suppression repair work elsewhere on the fire including low stumping and dragging slash into fire lines.
Fire Conditions and Weather
- Temperatures will be cooler over the next couple of days with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s and higher humidity levels.
- Increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning this afternoon and continuing through Friday.
- West winds of 8-16 mph will change to stronger northeast winds in the afternoon.
- Gusty and erratic winds expected near thunderstorms.
