Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551, 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited on the Yellowstone Ranger District, Custer Gallatin National Forest:

PROHIBITION: To go into or be upon any area which is closed for the protection of public health and safety: [36 C.F.R. § 261.53 (e)].
AREA CLOSURE DESCRIPTION: The closure applies to all National Forest System (NFS) lands, including roads and trails within the area closure boundary, depicted on the attached map (Attachment A) also known as the “American Fork Fire Closure Area”.

Specifically, all NFS lands south of the Custer Gallatin and Helena Lewis and Clark (HLC) National Forest shared boundary, starting at a point directly North of Target Rock the south, following the Forest Boundary to the middle of Sec. 26, T T5N, R10E then directly South on the property boundary to National Forest System Road (NFSR) 6630, then South along the East side of the NFSR 6630 to National Forest System Trail (NFST) 258, Southeast along the East side of the trail to the intersection of NFST 260, South along the East side of the trail to the southern section line boundary of Section 5, T 4N, R11E then directly East on the section line for five (5) miles, North on the property boundary to the southern boundary of Section 6, T4N, R12E then East for three (3) miles then North along the section line for 1 mile and then East to the Forest Boundary, then North following the Forest Boundary to the shared Custer Gallatin HLC shared boundary in T 5N, R 12 E, section 29, are closed.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this order is to protect firefighter and public health and safety near the American Fork Fire in the Crazy Mountains, East of Wilsall and North of Livingston in Park, Meagher, and Sweet Grass Counties Montana.

IMPLEMENTATION: This order will be in effect August 27th, 2021, and shall remain in effect until December 31, 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A. Forest Order # 01-11-04-21-05

EXEMPTIONS: Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this order. 2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty. 3. Owners or lessees of land in the closed area.

VIOLATION: Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. (16 U.S.C. §551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571(b)(6) and 3581(b)(7).
