Glacier Fire Wildfire
News – 7/26/2021

Dexter Fire – The Dexter Fire remains at 2965 acres and 97% containment. The fire closure order has been amended. New closure information and maps are posted on InciWeb at: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7656/.

Glacier Fire - The Glacier Fire was declared 100% contained on Friday evening, July 23. No closures are in effect. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7668/.

Lightning Fires – The Volcano and Templeton Fires in the Golden Trout Wilderness are surrounded by volcanic rock and have shown no signs of growth.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast this week and there is a flash flood watch in effect through this evening. For weather information, please visit the National Weather Service website at www.weather.gov/hnx/.

There are some road and area closures to the north of the Inyo NF due to the Tamarack Fire burning on the Humboldt-Toiyabe NF (information: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7674/ and https://roads.dot.ca.gov/)

Smoke from the Tamarack and other wildfires in neighboring forests is drifting into the Eastern Sierra. When you smell wildfire smoke, the best way to prevent breathing harmful particles is to stay indoors with windows & doors shut and AC set to recirculate. Also, HEPA-rated air cleaners can reduce indoor particulate matter by 90%. For more information on keeping yourself and family members safe from wildfire smoke, please visit https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/protecting-yourself-wildfire-smoke. For current wildfire locations, smoke drift and air quality information, visit: https://fire.airnow.gov/

Fire Restrictions remain in effect for the Inyo NF and Bishop Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Campfires are allowed only in developed campgrounds and recreation sites. A portable stove or lantern using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel may be used with a valid wilderness or California Campfire Permit in dispersed areas. Smoking is only allowed within an enclosed vehicle, building, a developed recreation site, or in an area at least three feet in diameter cleared of flammable material.
