Cedar Creek, Varden, and Delancy Fires
 Closure Order: 06-17-04-21-39 Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order supersedes Order # 06-17-04-21-36, dated October 1, 2021, signed by Kristin Bail. This Order is effective October 8, 2021, through December 31, 2021, unless rescinded sooner.

  PROHIBITIONS: 1.         Entering into or being upon National Forest System Lands, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53(e)]. 2.         Being on any National Forest System trail, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)]. 3.         Being on any National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].   FIRE EMERGENCY AREA CLOSURE DESCRIPTION: The Fire Emergency Area Closure is defined as follows:   The closure area begins at the intersection of SR20 and the FS boundary in T36N R19E S27, then follows the south side of SR20 west to a point 1.6 miles west of Varden Creek in the southeast corner of T36N R18E S23. From here, the boundary climbs the eastern hydrologic divide of Silver Star Creek to the summit of Silver Star Mountain in T35N R18E S10, then follows south along the hydrologic boundary of Willow Creek to a point in the SE corner of T35N R18E S16, where it then veers southwest to a high point on Kangaroo Ridge in T35N R18E S28. From this point, the boundary follows the ridge to the SE, offset from the ridgeline by 0.1 miles, until it reached the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness in the NE corner of T35N R18E S33. It then follows the Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness boundary east/southeast to a point in the SW corner of T34N R20E S8, then follows the western hydrologic boundary of Burnt Saw Creek to FSR 4415000 in the southwest corner of T34N R20E S17. From here, the boundary follows FSR 441500 to the eastern hydrologic boundary of Valentine Creek in the northwest corner of T34N R20E S21 and then follows this feature to Thompson Ridge in the southwest corner of T34N R20E S10. FSR 4415000 remains open. The boundary then follows Thompson Ridge southwest until it intersects with FSR 4410000 and then continues north on this road until its junction with FSR 4410200/Meadowlark Trail in the northwest corner of T34N R21E S30. The boundary follows this route north and west until it intersects with the Woodpecker Trail in the north portion of T34N R21E S18, then follows this trail to its intersection with FSR 4410300/Lower Inside Passage Trail. The boundary then follows this route west to FSR 4410000 and the junction of FSR 4410400, then follows this road to its end in the northeast corner of T34N R20E S13. From here, the boundary heads due north
until it intersects with the Thompson Ridge Trail in the southeast corner of T34N R20E S12, then follow this trail for 0.2 miles, then drops to the northeast to intersect with the Overland Trail in the northwest corner of T34N R21E S7. From this point, the boundary follows Overland Trail northeast to its junction with FSR 4410500. The boundary then follows FSR 4410500 northwest until it intersects with FSR 4410522, then follows this road northeast until it intersects with Black Bear Trail, then follows this trail northeast to its intersection with the FS boundary in the north portion of T34N R21E S6. From here, the boundary continues along the FS boundary to an unnamed road, following this road 0.5 miles to the FS boundary within T34N R21E S6. From there the closure follows the FS boundary around to the west/north until it reaches County Road 1131 (Wolf Cr Road) in T35N R20E S22, then follows the SW edge of this road until it crosses the FS boundary. The closure continues west/northwest along the FS boundary until it reaches the northeast corner of T36N R19E S26, where it crosses west to the FS boundary in T36N R19E S27, then north to the starting point.   All roads and trails used as boundaries are open. County Road 1131 (Wolf Creek Road) is not included in this closure. The following National Forest System facilities, roads, and trails are included in this closure, which includes all spur roads and trails leaving from those listed below:
Roads ·        FSR 4410100, 4410300 from its intersection with Woodpecker Trail in the southwest corner of T34N R21E S18 south to its junction with FSR 4410000, 4410375, 4410380, 4410385, 4410400, 4410520, 4410530, 4410535, 4410500 from its junction with FSR 4410520 to its end in T34N R20E S11, 4410550 ·        FS Road 5005 from 5.13 miles west of its junction with County Road “Left Fork Wolf Creek Road” to its end ·        FS Road 5005800 from 0.55 miles from its beginning at Wolf Creek Road to its end ·        FS Road 5310100 Sandy Butte ·        FS Road 5310200 Cedar Creek   Trails ·        Trail #476 Cedar Creek ·        Trail #508 Milton Mountain ·        Trail #527 and 527.1 Wolf Creek ·        Trail #528 North Fork Wolf Creek (unmaintained) ·        Aqua Loop Trail ·        Dave’s Dive Trail ·        Little Wolf Trail where it crosses over FS lands ·        Pete’s Dragon Trail ·        Thompson Ridge Trail from its southern terminus on FSR 4410000 to 1.8 miles from its northern terminus ·        Upper Climb It Change Trail ·        Upper Inside Passage Trail ·        Wild Turkey Trail ·        Woodpecker Trail from junction with Meadowlark Trail in T34N R21E S19 to its junction with Wild Turkey Trail in T34N R21E S19.   See Exhibit A for closure map.
EXEMPTIONS: Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:   1.     Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.   2.     Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.   These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581).   Executed in Wenatchee, Washington this 8th Day of October 2021.
