 Cub Creek 2 Fire Closure Order: 06-17-04-21-30 Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order supersedes Order # 06-17-04-21-27, dated September 10, 2021, signed by Forest Supervisor Kristin Bail. This Order is effective September 20, 2021, through December 31, 2021, unless rescinded sooner.

  PROHIBITIONS: 1.        Entering into or being upon National Forest System Lands, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53(e)]. 2.        Being on any National Forest System trail, as described below and displayedon the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].   3.        Being on any National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].   FIREEMERGENCYAREA AND ROAD CLOSURE DESCRIPTION: The Fire Emergency Area Closure is defined as follows: The closure area begins at the junction of NFS Rd 5100000 Chewuch and the FS boundary at T36N R21E S35, then follows the FS boundary north and west to an unnamed ridge in the SW corner to T36N R21E S 27. From there, the boundary follows the ridge to the northwest until it joins the ridge forming the hydrologic boundary between Cub Creek and Eightmile Creek drainages in the northeast corner of T36N R21E S27. The boundary follows this ridge to the northwest until T36N R20E S2, where it then follows a ridge forming the hydrologic boundary between Goat Creek and Eightmile Creek north until this ridge intersects FSR 5220100 (Sweetgrass Butte Road). The boundary follows this road north to the southwest corner of T37N R20E S23, then follows the hydrologic boundary between Goat and Eightmile Creeks northwest to the southeast corner of T38N R20E S33 where it joins the boundary of the Pasayten Wilderness. The boundary follows the Pasayten Wilderness boundary north and east to Trail #500 (Lake Creek), then follows this trail southeast to its starting point on FSR 5160100. The boundary then follows FSR 5160100 southeast to its beginning at FSR 5160. From the junction of FSR5160 and 5160100, the boundary follows FSR 5160 south to the southeast corner of T37N R22E S18, then crosses the Chewuch River to the east to the mouth of North Twentymile Creek and follows this creek east to where it crosses the boundary between the Methow Valley and Tonasket Ranger Districts in the southwest corner of T37N R23E S6. From this point, the boundary follows south
along the district boundary to T35N R23E S4, then turns southeast skirting the north edge of Trail #358 Beaver Meadow and then Trail #526 Pearrygin Creek to T35N R22E S13, where it then follows an unnamed ridge southeast to the junction of FSR 5009100 and FSR 5009300 in T35N R22E S19. From this point, the closure boundary crosses east to the NFS boundary and then follows it north and west to the starting point in T36N R21E S35.   The following roads and trails remain open:   ·       FSR 3700000 from its junction with FSR 3900000 to its junction with FSR 5010000; ·       FSR 5010000; ·       FSR 5100000; ·       FSR 5160000; ·       FSR 5160100; ·       Access roads to Camp 4 Campground, Andrews Creek Trailhead, North Twentymile Trailhead, and Lake Creek Trailhead; ·       Trails leading from the Andrews Creek Trailhead, North Twentymile Trailhead, and Lake Creek

Trailhead;

·       Trail #500.

  All other campgrounds, trailheads, trails, and roads on NFS lands within the closure area remain closed. See Exhibit A for closure map. EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1.     Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force inthe performance of an official duty.   2.     Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order. These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581).   Executed in Wenatchee, Washington on this 20th day of September 2021.
