 Cedar Creek, Varden, and Delancy Fires Closure Order: 06-17-04-21-31 Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order supersedes Order # 06-17-04-21-23, dated August 8, 2021, signed by Kristin Bail. This Order is effective September 20, 2021, through December 31, 2021, unless rescinded sooner.

  PROHIBITIONS: 1.        Entering into or being upon National Forest System Lands, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53(e)].   2.        Being on any National Forest System trail, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].   3.        Being on any National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].   FIRE EMERGENCY AREA CLOSURE DESCRIPTION: The Fire Emergency Area Closure is defined as follows:   The closure area begins at the intersection of SR20 and the FS boundary in T36N R19E S27, then follows the south side of SR20 west to a point 0.4 miles west of Silver Star Creek in T36N R18E S27, where it veers south to climb Vasiliki Ridge. The boundary follows the ridge to its high point at 8,100’ in the SE corner of T35N R18E S3, then curves 0.2 miles southeast of the ridgeline for 0.25 miles to the summit of Silver Star Mountain in T35N R18E S10. From this point, the boundary follows south along the hydrologic boundary of Willow Creek to a point in the SE corner of T35N R18E S16, where it then veers southwest to a high point on Kangaroo Ridge in T35N R18E S28. From this point, the boundary follows the ridge to the SE, offset from the ridgeline by 0.1 miles, until it reaches the Lake Chelan- Sawtooth Wilderness in the NE corner of T35N R18E S33. It then follows the Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness boundary east/southeast to a point in the SW corner of T35N R19E S31, where it follows a ridge south/southeast to the summit of Abernathy Peak in T34N R19E S6. The boundary proceeds east/southeast along Abernathy Ridge to a high point in the SE corner of T34N R19E S16, where it then follows a side ridge to the east, crosses Little Slate Creek, and climbs to an unnamed ridge in the NE corner of T34N R19E S23. From there, the boundary follows the ridge until it intersects the Little Bridge Creek Trail #403 in the center of T34N R19E S14, then follows the north edge of this trail east to its beginning at FSR 4415000 (Little Bridge Creek Road) in T34N R20E S17. The boundary then follows the eastern edge of this road to the junction with FSR 4410000 (Thompson Ridge Road). Trail #403 and FSR 4415000 are excluded from the closure. From the junction of FSR 4415000 and 4410000, the closure follows the north side of FSR 4410000 for 100 feet to the Forest Service administrative
boundary, then follows the FS boundary east/northeast, then north until it reaches Long Leaf Road in T34N R21E S19, following the western edge of this road to the FS boundary. The closure then follows the FS boundary as it jogs north and west to County Road 1117 (Patterson Lake Road), then follows the south side of this road to its junction with FS Road 4410 and the unnamed access road to Sun Mountain Lodge in T34N R21E S7. From here, the closure follows the west side of this road north to the FS boundary, then continues along this boundary to an unnamed road in T34N R21E S6, then along the SE edge of this road 0.5 miles to the FS boundary in T34N R21E S6. From there the closure follows the FS boundary around to the west/north until it reaches County Road 1131 (Wolf Cr Road) in T35N R20E S22, then follows the SW edge of this road until it crosses the FS boundary. The closure continues west/northwest along the FS boundary until it reaches the northeast corner of T36N R19E S26, where it crosses west to the FS boundary in T36N R19E S27, then north to the starting point.   County Road 1117 (Patterson Lake Road) and County Road 1131 (Wolf Creek Road) are not included in this closure. EXEMPTIONS: Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:   1.     Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.     2.     Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.   These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581).   Executed in Wenatchee, Washington this 20th Day of September 2021.
