Current Status: Yesterday, crews were actively involved with mop up and patrolling existing perimeter control lines. Fire activity inside the control lines was increased due to the higher temperatures.  Unburned pockets of fuels were actively burning and there was some single tree torching.  Winds were favorable throughout the day and smoke and ash were blowing into the burned area.

Planned Actions: Crews will continue to strengthen existing control lines, grid for spot fires and mop up along the control lines. The fire perimeter will be mopped-up for a minimum distance of 100’ into the black burned-out area. Cooler temperatures and wetter weather are expected with possible heavy rain and flooding. Crews will have to watch for muddy road conditions and higher winds.  Crew personnel will be available to provided initial attack for other new fire starts in the area. 
 
Evacuations and Closures: According to the Nez Perce Sheriff’s Office, residents of the following areas remain in “SET” stage: Zaza Road, Deer Creek Road, Stagecoach Road, the Redbird Road, Waha Glen, Waha Road, and all spur roads. Conditions can change at any time, please delay the return of livestock and important household items. Road access is restricted to residents only on Zaza Road at Deer Creek and from Redbird Road South and Deer Creek Road to Soldier Meadow.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Forest, Morrowtown, and North Road areas remain in the “Ready” stage. A Road closure remains in effect for the Hoover Point Road.

Fire Restrictions:
Due to the high threat of wildfire danger in northern Idaho, local land management agencies implemented Stage II Fire Restrictions on all lands within the Grangeville Fire Restriction Area.
