Current Situation: Command of the Morgan Creek Fire will transition to a Type 4 organization on Monday and will continue to be supported. Heavy smoke remains in the area Sunday morning, and the warming, drying trend continues. Low humidity recovery and above average temperatures are expected in the coming days. Crews continue to patrol the western and southern flanks working towards the wilderness and previous fire footprints from the 2020 Middle Fork and 2002 Burn Ridge fires. On the northern flank, focus is on improving indirect line construction to protect homes and infrastructure.

Closures: A forest closure order remains in effect for areas near the Morgan Creek Fire. Some form of long-term area closure may remain in place for the duration of the fire, likely into the fall/winter. Forest Service Road 400 (Seedhouse Road), and other Forest Service roads and trails in the closure area remain closed to entry for public and firefighter safety. County Road 64 between County Road 129 and Forest Service Road 400 is limited to emergency and local traffic only.

Fire Restrictions: Routt County is in Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland are in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.
