Shasta-Trinity National Forest, July 18, 2021 — The Salt Fire has been managed by a Type 3 Team since Monday July 12. It is currently 95% contained and is 12,660 acres in size. Work over the last week has focused on completing mop-up on the fire and conducting suppression repair activities. The only notable event has been a new start on Friday July 16 caused by machinery performing suppression repair. Fire resources responded promptly, and this new fire was contained at 10 acres in size. Because of this event and the extreme fire danger all suppression repair activities have been suspended until conditions change. Management of the fire will be turned over to a local Type 4 organization on Monday July 19, 2021 at 700 am. Full containment is anticipated to be achieved on July 19, 2021.
Fire restrictions remain in effect throughout the Shasta-Trinity National Forest prohibiting building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire. Due to the remarkable heat and acutely dry conditions, everyone should be extremely vigilant. For more information visit: https://go.usa.gov/x6zxP
