Salt Fire Daily Update for July 10

Salt Fire Wildfire
News – 7/10/2021

Shasta-Trinity National Forest, July 10, 2021 — The Salt Fire remains at 12,650 acres with no perimeter growth. Containment is now 55%. Less than 1,000 fire personnel are now assigned to the incident. Evacuation orders and warnings remain in place for some areas of the fire, while others are slowly being allowed to return to their homes. Fire activity is currently limited to isolated smoldering pockets within the interior of the fire perimeter. Crews continue to complete and strengthen containment lines in all areas of the fire and also address interior areas of lingering heat. As the fire enters the next stage, crews will begin the process of mop up. Mop up is searching for hot spots using hand tools and hoses to ensure the fire remains within containment lines.

The continued drought and excessive heat have created extremely dry conditions and a high probability of ignition in unburned areas. Forest visitors are reminded that fire restrictions remain in effect prohibiting building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire. For more information visit:
