Muddy Slide Fire Update

The Muddy Slide Fire remains 4,093 acres and 70% contained. There are 123 personnel assigned to the incident.Crews will continue to patrol all divisions. The fire is currently smoldering within its existing footprint. Despite the high-pressure system which resulted in two days of warmer temperatures and low humidity fire activity was lighter than expected. The weather pattern is expected to turn cooler and wetter in the next couple of days. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-70s and relative humidity is expected to be higher, in the low to mid-30s. Winds are forecasted to be out of the west-southwest at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph on ridges. Cloud cover will increase and chances of showers or thunderstorms starting mid-morning. The Muddy Slide Fire started on June 20, 2021. Rocky Mountain Area Team Black assumed command of the Muddy Slide Fire on Sunday July 18.
