Snow Fire Daily Update for September 21, 2020

News – 9/21/2020

Summary

The fire continues to creep slowly with smoldering and isolated interior torching. High temperatures and steep rugged terrain present challenges and threatens firefighter safety. Firefighters nonetheless continue to make good progress building direct fire line in the San Jacinto Wilderness. Crews are working from spike camps on both sides of the fire to bring containment lines together on the south side of the fire.

Portions of the San Jacinto Wilderness, Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument, Tahquitz National Game Preserve as well as portions of the Pacific Crest Trail are within the fire perimeter.

Weather

Fair weather through Tuesday with slight cooling and little to no change in humidity. Light winds today will gradually increase late Monday and again on Tuesday with the strongest winds in the late afternoon and evenings.

Evacuations

All evacuations for the Snow Fire have been lifted.
