Bobcat Wildfire
News – 9/28/2020

Special Statement

Smoke Advisories remain in place for portions of the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District. Please see the links below for more information.

Fires

Two fires are burning in the forecast area: The Bobcat, (114,200, 62% containment)and the El Dorado (22,680 acres, 92% containment). Yesterday, fires burned in the interior areas but with little to no new growth. The high pressure in the region brings gusty, hot and dry winds from the east to the fire areas today. High potential for igniting unburnt dry fuels. Red Flag Warning in effect through 5 pm today. See link below for Inciweb for more information.

Smoke:

Today east-northeast winds dominate as the high pressure remains in the region. Smoke from burning hot spots inside the fire perimeter will linger in the fire areas, and disperse with light winds up and downslope until the stronger E-NE winds transport smoke to west and southwest. Today through the remainder of the week, smoke from fires north of the LA Basin may cause haze and additional smoke impacts in the forecast area.
